Learn how to maintain and preserve the safety, comfort, and beauty of your handcrafted tack.
Full-grain leather is a natural, living material. Properly cared for, it adapts to your horse, grows stronger, and develops a beautiful, distinct patina over time. Neglected, it dries out, cracks, and poses safety risks.

We recommend wiping down your leather tack with a dry or slightly damp microfiber cloth after every ride to remove horse sweat and dust. A deeper clean with saddle soap followed by leather conditioner should be done once a month, or more frequently if you ride in rain or dusty environments.
While leather oils (like Neatsfoot oil) can be used to soften very stiff leather, they can sometimes over-saturate and weaken the stitching if used excessively. We recommend using a high-quality beeswax-based leather cream or balm, which conditions and provides a protective water-resistant barrier without over-softening the leather structure.
Our solid brass fittings are rust-proof and highly durable. Over time, brass naturally oxidizes and develops a subtle patina. To restore its bright golden shine, apply a small amount of brass polish (like Brasso) using a soft cloth, taking care not to get polish on the surrounding leather. Wipe clean with a dry cloth.
If your tack gets wet, do not panic. Wipe off excess water with a towel, then let it dry naturally in a cool, ventilated room away from direct heat sources (like radiators, heaters, or hot hair dryers) and direct sunlight. Drying leather with heat makes it dry out, crack, and become brittle. Once completely dry, apply a generous coat of conditioner.
Premium full-grain leather is a natural material that contains tight fibers. A small amount of stiffness is normal for brand-new leather. With regular use and proper conditioning, the leather will absorb the oils and adapt to your horse's shape, becoming incredibly supple, soft, and comfortable within a few weeks.
Store your leather gear in a temperature-controlled, dry room with good air circulation. Hang bridles on wide, rounded hooks to preserve the shape of the headpiece. Never store leather in plastic bags or airtight containers, as they trap moisture and encourage mold growth. Instead, use breathable cotton bags.
